Why can’t I connect a water leak sensor to Amazon Echo?
I choose the Third Reality sensor because it works with ZigBee hubs.

Amazon does not directly support the device type of water leak sensor while it supports motion and door sensors, that is why you can not pair it to your Echo, it can’t be connected to an Echo device directly even when it has a built-in ZigBee hub. You can use a Third Reality hub, the Aeotec or SamrtThings hub in order to connect the water leak sensor. However, there is a “bug” in Echo V4, if you use it as your ZigBee hub, you can pair the water leak sensor as a motion sensor.

I have a SmartThings hub, do I need a special hub for the door sensor?
  1. Enable the SmartThings Skill inyour Alexa app and sign in to link your accounts on both platforms.
  2. Go to Devices tabin your Alexa app and add devices to sync your devices under SmartThings to Alexa: “+” icon(on the upper right corner)->Add Device->Other.
  3. Create a routinefor the door sensor and light switches in your Alexa app, you can use door open/close to trigger things like light on/off, or you can set an Alexa “custom message” when the door sensor detects a door is opened.
Why can’t my Echo discover the door sensor? It has a ZigBee hub built-in.
  1. Reboot your Echo by unplugging/plugging it back in.
  2. Set the door sensor into pairing mode by long press the reset button inside the device, the blue LED flashes rapidly.
  3. Keep the door sensor near the Echo with ZigBee hub build-in, then ask Alexa to “discover devices”.
  4. If it is still not working, please factory reset your Echo, re-add echo then re-discover device again, then pair it with your Echo device again.
Why nothing shows up for devices or group on the Third Reality app? I am using a SmartThings hub.

Because you are using Echo (Alexa APP) and SmartThings (SmartThings APP), it will bypass Third Reality app. Only when you are using Third Reality Hub (which is equivalent to SmartThings Hub), then the Third Reality app is required and will show the device in the app.

I can’t get the app to pair with my echo 4th Gen, I would like to use it for my door sensor.

You can connect the door sensor directly with the Echo 4th Gen.

1 Remove the battery cover of the door sensor, long press the reset button for 3 seconds until the LED indicator turns red and release, the LED indicator will flashes rapidly in blue, indicating the door sensor is in pairing mode.

2 Ask Alexa to discover devices, the pairing will be completed within one minute.

There are three door sensors and four motion detectors that seem to be correctly sending the On/Off signal when activated, but they are not triggering the Alexa routines like they once did. I can trigger the Alexa routines by themselves manually, but they are supposed to trigger with the door sensors and motion sensors.

1 Checking for software updates.

2 Disenable Skill in your Alexa App and enable Skill again.

1) Delete the devices and the corresponding routines in your Alexa App.

2) Go to " Skills & Games" page → search for "Third Reality" → disable Third Reality Skill and then re-enable it.

3) Re-create the routines.

Cannot get the door sensor to send a notification to my phone

Pls turn on Third Reality "App notifications" in Settings on your phone, and turn on "Push notification" in Door Sensor Details page in your Third Reality App.

I have four working Door Sensor, the Zigbee Contact driver.
I am attempting to connect two more bought from Amazon and neither will pair. They seem to be going into pairing mode correctly.

Pls try the following steps to add the contact sensor, one at a time.

  1. No, RealityAdapter only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channels. Most 5 GHz Wi-Fi routers also support 2.4 GHz, during RealityAdapter installation make sure to specify a network that supports 2.4GHz channels.

Can I use Third Reality devices with Samsung SmartThings?

Yes, follow this procedure. (Note: RealitySwitch has been officially supported by Smartthings. There is no need to use handler as suggested before)

  1. Login to the SmartThings App and bind the hub. You can reference the SmartThings manual about binding steps.
  2. If you use the SmartThings App 2015, select " add a thing" to get RealitySwitch/ RealitySwitch Plus set up. If you use SmartThings App 2018, select "Add device" --> " Switch/Dimmer"--> "GE Zigbee" to get RealitySwitch/ RealitySwitch Plus set up.

The blue LED light of RealitySwitch/ RealitySwitch Plus is fast blinking, indicating that it is in pairing mode.

How do I use Third Reality devices with a Wink hub?
  1. Login to the Wink App and pair the hub. You can reference the Wink manual about pairing steps.
  2. You will need to set RealitySwitch/ RealitySwitch Plus as “Lighting” → “Lights” → “Generic Zigbee Light Blub”in Wink App.

The blue LED light of RealitySwitch/ RealitySwitch Plus should be blinking fast, indicating that it is in pairing mode.

  1. Click "CONNECT NOW" until "SUCCESS" appears.

RealitySwitch LED should stop flashing when connected to Wink successfully.

What can I do if RealitySwitch does not respond even if I have used a new battery?

Take out battery. Press the front button a few times to drain power inside circuit board. Then put back battery and try again.

Is there a limit to the number of devices I can have connected to this hub?
  1. THIRDREALITY Smart Hub can hold up to 16 devices, we recommend no more than 14 since it could be very hard to add a 15th device.
    The communication range between the hub and the devices is within 30 meters for open space, and 20 meters when there is a wall in between.

    Q2 The firmware of my Third Reality Hub is 42.16, I managed to update it to 44.19 after several attempts. When the motion sensor is paired to the hub, it's recognized as a smart switch. 

    Tap the hub icon in the Third Reality App to enter the device page, then check for updates to update the firmware to the latest version.

How many switches can I have on a hub and how many switches can I have on my echo ZigBee?

For the Third Reality hub, it is 16.
For Echo Zigbee, it depends on Echo V4 or Echo Plus, it should be 64 to 128, we recommend not exceeding 32.

Fail to connect
  1. Reboot the WiFi router by unplugging and plugging it back, then wait few minutes.
    2. Place the hub as close to the router as possible
    3. Factory the Hub by holding the reset button until the Wi-Fi LED will is fast blinking. (Power LED and ZigBee LED is stay lighting on.)
    4. Open ThirdReality App and follow the instructions to repair the hub.

How do I change the motion sensor sensitivity from high (default) to low?

If you want to change the Motion Sensor sensitivity from high (default) to low:

  • Unplug and plug in the Motion Sensor from Echo Flex for four times.
  • The blue LED will flash slowly while it’s starting up, indicating that sensitivity is set to low. Otherwise it will flash rapidly, meaning sensitivity is set to high.

How do I troubleshoot Motion Sensor?
  1. If the Motion Sensor has become unresponsive, please try the following:

    • Unplug the Motion Sensor from the Echo Flex
    • Reboot your Echo Flex by unplugging and plugging it back in
    • After Echo Flex has completed rebooting, plug the Motion Sensor back to the Echo Flex
    • Restart the Alexa app.

1.Push the back cover up to open the motion senor, then insert two AAA batteries.

1.Open Amazon Alexa App, enter Devices page.

2.Tap “Wi-Fi Acess”, then click “GET STARTED”.

How to connect a motion sensor to a SmartThings hub?

1.Open the SmartThings App on your phone, then go to the devices page.

2.Tap “+” icon on top right, click “Add device”.

3.Set the motion sensor into pairing mode: open the back cover of the motion sensor, long press the inside button of the sensor until the red LED light turns on, now it’s in pairing mode.

4.Choose “Scan for nearby devices”.

  1. Press and hold the Set "□" button on the Smart Blind body for more than 5 seconds until the status of the LED turns red and flash rapidly. Then release the Set button, the LED will flash rapidly after 10 seconds indicating that it is in pairing mode now.
How can we do if the smart blind can’t pair with Echo devices?

1) make sure the Echo device is compatible with ZigBee Smart Blind. The Echo devices that support ZigBee Smart Blind includes Echo Plus Gen 1& Gen 2, Echo Gen 4, Echo Studio.

2)Reboot the Echo speaker by unplugging the power and plugging it back in, then try

to pair the Smart Blind with it again.

3)Factory reset the Echo speaker (Press and hold the Action button for 25 seconds.

The light ring will pulse orange, then turn off. Wait for the light ring to turn back on and turn blue. The light ring then turns orange again and the device enters the setup mode), then try to pair the Smart Blind with it again.

If the Smart Blind is unresponsive after pairing successfully, how to do?

1) If the Smart Blind is offline (LED slow blinking----blink once every three seconds), unplug the Echo device and take the batteries out of the Smart Blind and then put the batteries back in to reboot your Echo devices and Smart Blind.

2) If the Echo device is offline (directly say something to Alexa, if the Echo is offline, it will prompt you), check the state of wifi.

How to set 100% position after the Smart Blind is paired?

1) After the Smart Blind is paired, we need to make sure that the Smart Blind is in the highest position (we can also call it 0% position), so that we can set the 100% position more accurately. So first, press the “Up” button to let the Smart Blind move to the highest position where the Smart Blind will take as 0% position.

2)Press the “Down” button, the Smart Blind will move down. In the process of moving down, once a device named “bottom sensor”(which is in the bottom of Smart Blind) is triggered,the position where the Smart Blind is triggered will be recorded as 100% position.

What’s the function of “Button sensor”?

The bottom sensor is on the bottom of the Smart Blind. Once the Bottom Sensor is triggered, the Smart Blind will stop moving, and the position (where the bottom sensor is triggered) is set as 100% position. Next time, when the Smart Blind is asked to go down to 100% position, it will automatically stretch to the same position where the bottom sensor was triggered last time.

The “up” and “down” buttons on the Smart blind reverse to the actual movement, how to do?

Answer: When this happens, press the “Up” button and let the Smart Blind move to the lowest position. After it reaches the lowest position, it will continue moving to the highest position. Meanwhile, the “Up” and “Down” button will correspond with the actual direction of moving.

The Smart Blind is not responding after installation, how to do?

1)Turn on/off the Smart Blind twice in the Alexa app to sync the blind.

2) If not connected, please reboot the Echo speaker and factory reset the Smart Blind (refer to Q1), then pair the Smart Blind with the Echo speaker.

3)If it still can’t work, please try to deregister the Echo speaker and register back in, then

try to pair the Smart Blind with it.

After paired the Smart Plug Gen2 with Hubitat hub, there is no current state in Hubitat, yet cannot turn it on/off through Hubitat.
  1. Please change the device type to "Generic Zigbee Outlet" in Hubitat, then it should work properly.
I have 8 of your Smart Plug Gen2 (with power meter) and would like to have them return to their last state after a power failure. I’m running firmware version 1.00.41 and using Zigbee2MQTT. Example: Outlet is currently on, power goes off, it should return to on automatically when power is restored. Example 2: Outlet is currently off, power goes off, it should remain off when power is restored. Every other ac-powered Zigbee device I own offers this function, but it appears your devices do not. I’ll be returning all 8 plugs if this is not possible. Can you please advise how I can enable this feature directly on the device?

How to check and change the mode of the Smart Switch Gen3?

To check the mode of the Smart Switch Gen3, please follow the instructions as follow.

① Remove the battery, press and hold the switch button for 5 seconds.

② While still holding down the button, install the battery.

③ The plastic slider will slide within 10 seconds, release the button immediately and check its mode according to the position(as shown in the picture).

 

To change the mode from BLE to Zigbee 

① Make sure the plastic pusher of the motor drive is at the bottom position, remove the batteries.

② Push and hold the button while installing the batteries, the plastic pusher moves up and down.

③ Double-press the button within 5 seconds, and the plastic pusher moves up, indicating it's in Zigbee mode.

Do I need a Third Reality hub if I want to voice control the Smart Switch Gen3 over Alexa?

It depends on what Echo device you have. A Third Reality hub is used to connect ZigBee end devices to those Echo speakers without ZigBee hubs built-in, see Q1. Enable the Third Reality SKILL in your Alexa app by signing in your 3R account, you can do cloud2cloud sync to support all Echo devices.

Why can’t I pair the Smart Switch Gen3 with the Third Reality Hub? The hub is set up and connected to my WiFi but it can not find my switch.
  1. Check the mode of the Smart Switch Gen3 to see if it’s the ZigBee version, see Q2.
  2. Make sure the hub firmware is the latest version, go to the hub detailspage in the Third Reality app to “Check Updates”.
  3. Put theswitch into pairing mode(see Q3), initialize the pairing process.
Why the Smart Switch Gen3 won’t pair with my Echo speaker?

1、Pls check the following steps before reseting and pairing the Smart Switch Gen3 with your Echo.
1 Check the mode of the Smart Switch Gen3 to see if it’s compatible with your Echo speaker.
Please notice that a single BLE Echo speaker can only hold up to 3 BLE end devices.

How to pair ZigBee Smart Switch Gen3 to an Aeotec/SmartThings Hub?

Check the version of the Smart Switch Gen3, see Q2.

Check your Aeotec/SmartTings hub firmware for updates.

Put the Smart Switch Gen3 into pairing mode, see Q3.

You can just use search nearby to pair the switch instead of using any device type.

How to move the Smart Switch Gen3 to another Echo speaker?

Go to the Alexa app account, remove the Smart Switch Gen3 from the Echo device it’s paired with, wait for 30 minutes for Alexa cloud to get updates, factory reset the switch(see Q5), then you can pair the switch to a new Echo speaker.

How to factory reset the Temperature and Humidity Sensor?
  1. Press and hold the reset button on the left side of the sensor for 5 seconds and release the hold, the blinking cloud icon on the the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
Why does the temperature fluctuate as I press the reset button?

The reset button is located near the ventilation hole, so the temperature reading rises as your finger press the reset button, you need to wait for 20 seconds before the temperature reading returns to normal.

The LCD screen gets dirty, how to clean it?

You can clean the LCD screen with alcohol wipes or damp soft cloth, prevent water from getting into the monitor when cleaning it.

What is the battery life?

1 year battery life with typical usage.

What is the refreshing rate of the sensor?

The sensor checks for updates every 20 seconds, it reports to the hub when there is a significant change of the temperature or the humidity. You can force the update process by pressing the side button.
